The countdown is on with just two weeks to go before Poynton Party in the Park brings a brilliant day of live music and entertainment to the popular Cheshire town.

 

The Poynton Rotary and Cheshire Concerts event takes place on Saturday 7 June and promises to be the biggest and best to date.

 

A packed line-up of live music for the Party in the Park’s 20th anniversary year features three award-winning tribute headliners performing full, hit-filled live sets alongside local acts and family entertainment throughout the day.

 

The one-day festival will also include an exclusive appearance from everyone’s favourite animated TV character Bluey, with a meet-and-greet opportunity afterwards, and fantastic family attractions including – new for 2025 - a traditional funfair, rides and an inflatable world.

 

Meanwhile in the run-up to this year’s festival and the Party in the Park’s 20th anniversary, Poynton Town Council has decorated the high street with bunting, signs and special shop window displays.

 

Partygoers are promised a full day of top live music in Poynton Park on 7 June with award-winning tributes to Oasis, Jamiroquai and Duran Duran.

 

Hailing from Manchester, the UK’s number one Oasis tribute band Whatever faithfully recreates both the sound and the look of the Brit Pop icons using authentic instruments and equipment, meaning the band’s performances are the closest you can get to experiencing a real Oasis concert.

 

Expect all the biggest hits including Supersonic, Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova, Live Forever and many more.

 

Meanwhile award-winning Duran Duran tribute band DURAN makes its Poynton Party in the Park debut. With more than 25 years’ experience, DURAN is one of the most established and respected Duran Duran tribute bands around, playing across the world and performing at festivals as featuring on television.

 

Creating an authentic sound by using the same equipment used in the studio by the New Romantic chart-toppers, DURAN delivers all the band’s greatest hits and fan favourites in a stunning live show.

 

And Space Cowboy – A Tribute to Jamiroquai, has been thrilling audiences across the UK and Europe for more than a decade, and will be coming to Poynton to put the party in Party in the Park.

 

Experienced musicians, amazing visuals and authentic outfits combine to produce a breathtaking show featuring studio and live versions of hits including Cosmic Girl, Canned Heat, Virtual Insanity, Deeper Underground and many more.

 

The unmissable line-up continues with a selection of talented local performers supporting through the day including party band Parlaiz, Imogen Paige, Raine and local band Monkey Harris which celebrates its 25th birthday this year and returns to Party in the Park by popular demand.

 

The event will also feature its biggest production to date including pyrotechnics, confetti streamers and special effects.

 

There will be an extended showcase of the amazing local food and drink in the area on the festival site, while the Mercedes Benz VIP area offers premium seating, a table service bar, exclusive competitions, displays and premium pop-ups.

 

The Party in the Park is staged once again by local festival organiser Max Eden, working alongside founders Poynton Rotary to deliver a family-friendly ‘festival in a day’ for everyone to enjoy.

 

Max Eden said: “With just two weeks until the Party in the Park returns to Poynton, there’s a real sense of anticipation as we begin final preparations for the day itself.

 

“We’ve got a brilliant line-up of live music promised for this special 20th anniversary, and in addition to that there’s a full programme of great family-friendly entertainment, including the Bluey Live Show which I know our younger visitors are going to love, and plenty of great food and drink offers which will be on site.

 

“Over the past two decades, the event has raised much-needed funds to help Poynton Rotary support charities and community groups in the area, and with partygoers’ help I know we’ll be able to raise even more money this year for good causes.

 

“I’m also very grateful for the support of Poynton Town Council, which has really got behind the event, and to our sponsors for 2025.”

Pride & Prejudice* (*sort of)   By Isobel McArthur after Jane Austen  Lowry, Salford until Saturday Jane Austen may well have swooned at the very thought of anyone tampering with her beloved Pride and Prejudice. So plaudits go to Isobel McArthur for being brave enough to meddle with what is considered to be a literary classic. Arriving at Lowry in Salford after its triumphant run in the West End where it won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy, this production may shock an audience unprepared for so many radical changes.  Although this production is still about the themes of money, true love and avarice, yet far from following in Austen’s footsteps, this show is more a musical than a straight play.
