@GaryBarlow talks CalendarGirlsTheMusical

Calling all @GaryBarlow fans! "I'll never stop tweaking!"  The prolific singer/songwriter told me during a flying visit to sunny Yorkshire where he's been working with award-winning playwright Tim Firth on a stream-lined version of Calendar Girls The Musical.  We met the new cast and the original Calendar Girls in Burnsall Village Hall where their story began.  You can see it at The Lowry Oct 30-Nov 10. AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN THE MUSICAL  Hope this pic brings back memories of the movie we all loved. I was so excited to see it in Leeds at The Grand Theatre  and meet the cast as well as the man who wrote the original screenplay! Soon you'll be able to see it in Manchester as well as on tour! T he world premiere production of An Officer and a Gentleman , plays at Manchester’s Opera House from Monday 13th – Saturday 18th August. T he great cast features four-time Olivier nominated actress Emma Williams ( Chitty Chitty Bang Bang , Mrs Henderson Presents , Half a Sixpence ) as Paula Pokrifk. Exciting news too that Emma is getting married this very weekend- so congratulations to her! No she's not marrying  Jonny Fines ( Annie , The Sound of Music , Avenue Q ) as the iconic Zack Mayo, played in the movie by Richard Gere.Sorry girls hunky Jonny told me he's got a baby who has been keeping him awake at nights! THE LAST SHIP I recently had the pleasure of meeting music legend Sting at the Salford launch of his debut musical, The Last Ship, first seen on Broadway. What a day that was!  He sat with his guitar and sang songs from the musical and talked openly about his background - the inspiration for this powerful piece. I couldn't wait to see the show and wasn't disappointed. So I'm recommending it to all my friends and fellow bloggers. I'm not going to tell you the story or give away any spoilers as I'd love you to see it through fresh eyes. But will just suggest some pointers to save you having to ruin your eyesight trying to read the programme in the dark! The production, has a Tony-nominated original score and lyrics composed by Sting, and is touring until July. I saw it at the Liverpool Playhouse and if you haven't been I also recommend you give it a try  as it's a great theatre space.  The tour will play Birmingham, Northampton, Leeds, Nottingham,
