Twelve Angry Men at The Lowry - Review by Natalie Anglesey
Twelve Angry Men
The Lowry, Salford
Review by Natalie Anglesey
Following previous record-breaking
West End seasons, and a critically acclaimed tour in 2023, Bill Kenwright Ltd’s
powerful production of Twelve Angry Men is at The Lowry this week until 2nd March 2024.
Ever since the powerful fifties film starring Henry Fonda, which was nominated three times for Academy Awards, and since then, several stage productions over the years, this splendid court-room drama has never failed to impress me. Now there’s the chance for you to see Reginald Rose’s knife-edge courtroom drama at The Lowry all this week.
The plot is, in simple terms, that a jury has to decide
the fate of a young delinquent accused of killing his own father. But, what
appears to be an open and shut case causes the twelve members of the jury, a huge dilemma as
prejudices and pre-conceived ideas about
the accused, and one another, turn the tables several times until the nail-biting
climax.
Every time I see this play I leave the theatre wondering what would I do if I was on that jury! Perhaps you will as well.
Book as soon as you can for Twelve Angry Men as it's only at The Lowry until the 2nd of March 2024.
