A new show from harbingers of theatrical chaos Awkward Productions, written and performed by Linus Karp and created with support from Arts Council England. The show follows our previous productions How To Live A Jellicle Life: Life Lessons From The 2019 Hit Movie Musical ‘Cats’ and Awkward Conversations With Animals I’ve F*cked.

3 drag queens have come to save America, one show tune at a time!

To Wong Foo The Musical is based on the 1995 cult-classic film, To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar, written by multiple Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane and featuring an all-star cast including Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes, John Leguizamo, Stockard Channing, Robin Williams and Ru Paul.

Set in 90s New York, To Wong Foo The Musical tells the story of 3 Drag Queens, Vida, Noxeema and Chichi, who embark on a trip across America to attend the Drag Queen of the Year Finals in Hollywood. When their car breaks down in Middle America, their lives, as well as those in the town, are turned upside down, in this joyous, heartfelt and high camp musical extravaganza!

Those that know and love the film can expect all of those brilliant one liners, supported by a score that is a little bit club, a little bit country, a little bit musical theatre, but a whole lot of attitude!

Dame Maureen Lipman is back with an exclusive fundraiser!

Dame Maureen Lipman presents A Celebration of Music Hall! A Hope Mill Theatre Fundraising Evening!

Spend an evening with Dame Maureen Lipman and special guests, including friends from the most famous street in Weatherfield, to celebrate the iconic entertainment era of Victorian Music Hall.

Your ticket includes an arrival drink, and 3 course meal of pre-show starter, pie mash and gravy, and an interval homemade brownie and ice cream. All bookers will be contacted prior to the event with confirmed menu, requests for dietary requirements and allergies.

All proceeds will go towards Hope Mill Theatre’s charitable missions, including our Community Programmes and bringing world-class Musical Theatre and new writing to one of the most deprived wards in Manchester.

A suggested GiftAid-eligible donation of £20 can be added at checkout, which will go directly towards supporting the young people in our Theatre School. 50% of all places are fully funded scholarships for those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford this training and all the benefits it brings.

Adult Auditions – you must be 16+ to audition for these parts.

Artful Dodger: A street kid, singer/actor. Cockney accent. Very energetic, highly personable, intelligent and savvy beyond their years, Fagin’s right hand.

Fagin: (we are interested in seeing any gender for this role) Middle aged leader of a children’s band of thieves, age range 35- 50s, singer/actor. Cockney accent. Described as devious, a user, sly fox, very personable.

Nancy: When they were younger worked for Fagin, now a “barmaid” at the Three Cripples Bar, age range 20-30s, singer (good belt)/actressshould have decent movement skills. Cockney accent. She liveswith and loves Bill Sykes, pretty, intelligent, longs for a better life.

Bill Sykes: Also worked for Fagin as a youth now a feared master criminal, age range 20-30s actor/singer (baritone). Cockney accent. Goodlooking in a rough sort of way, sociopath, a killer who only looksout for them self.

Mr. Bumble: The Master of the Workhouse, age range 35-55, singer (high tenor)/actor. Cockney accent. A large, pompous.

Widow Corney: The Mistress of the Workhouse, age range 30-50, singer (soprano belt)/ actress. Cockney accent. Sharp tongued widow, also corrupt.

Bet: Nancy’s friend, may also have worked for Fagin, age range 16-25, singer/actress should move well. Cockney accent. She idolizes Nancy.

Other roles will be played by members of the ensemble!

Children Auditions – you must be aged between 9 – 12 to audition for these roles

Oliver Twist: A orphan workhouse child (Any Gender), soprano

Young Ensemble: We are looking for two teams of young performers to play Workhouse & Fagin KIDS. Any Gender, must have strong singing and dance skills.
