We are just fizzing with excitement! Alex T Smith is creating this year's Christmas window and signing copies of his brand new book 'THE GRUMPUS'

Our Christmas window at Simply Books is always something very special. This year we are giddy with excitement to have one of our very favourite author/illustrators, ALEX T SMITH, creating our Christmas window and signing copies of his gorgeous new book THE GRUMPUS. Alex is the bestselling author and illustrator of Claude (the dog), Mr Penguin and Winston (the mouse who delivered Christmas).

Come and meet Alex (he is just the loveliest person) and have a book beautifully inscribed and dedicated and snap a photo. And of course, you’ll be able to see our Christmas window! 

The GRUMPUS is a gorgeously grumpy character though he is not a fan of Christmas…… in fact he has hatched a dastardly, dreadful Christmas plan to go to the North Pole and stop Christmas once and for all! (OH NO!)

Sue loves this book! Told in chapters, with a festively foiled cover and glorious artwork it’s a perfect gift or treat for the whole family and destined to become a Christmas classic. It’s full of warmth and Christmas love and perfect for sharing!

MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS AT THE LOWRY UNTIL SATURDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER 2024 Hands up if, like me, you are an Agatha Christie fan. Thought so!   The excellent Fiery Angel production company with director Lucy Bailey, knew they were onto a sure - fire winner with this touring production of one of Christie’s most popular novels. This is where I have to confess that in my past I have been a guest on the real Orient Express replicating that same journey. In a strange way that experience has made me more critical of staged productions although I always intend to keep an open mind.   Launching this national tour at The Lowry ensured a packed auditorium.
