The Octagon’s blockbuster autumn/winter 2022/23 season will include a new production of Noël Coward’s Brief Encounter – coming to the Bolton venue in October.
Adapted for the stage by Emma Rice, this co-production with Stephen Joseph Theatre and Theatre by the Lake and directed by SJT’s Artistic Director, Paul Robinson, will see this timeless romance reimagined for the stage.
The show opens at the SJT later this month (Fri 22 Jul – Sat 27 Aug) and visits the New Vic Theatre Wed 7 – Sat 10 Sep and Theatre by the Lake Wed 14 Sep – Sat 8 Oct before heading to the Octagon from Thu 20 Oct – Sat 5 Nov.

The creative team includes: Jessica Curtis (designer), Simon Slater (composer and sound designer), Alex Weatherhill (musical director and musician), Sally Ferguson (lighting designer), Erin Carter (associate director and movement director), Nicole Joseph (assistant director), Shelagh Revell (musician) and Sarah Hughes CDG (casting director).
