New High Sheriff of Greater Manchester
High Sheriff of Greater Manchester Installation Ceremony at Lowry Theatre Over 100 guests, from all sectors of the community, were present at an impressive Installation Ceremony at The Lowry, in Salford, last week as Lorraine Worsley-Carter MBE DL became High Sheriff of Greater Manchester. Presented with the Sheriff’s Patent by the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, the proceedings were led by the Under Sheriff of the County Palatine, David Cam, and witnessed by His Honour Judge John Potter. The Office of High Sheriff is the oldest secular title in British history, and little has changed in the precise order the proceedings take each year. The proceedings required a Magistrate, Michael Rollinson, as well as Duchy of Lancaster Representative Debbie Garrity and two Queen’s Commissioners, Mrs Hayley Smith and Miss Lynne Kelly.
