Dance at Waterside

Waterside presents two show stopping dance productions this May   Audiences are set to be wowed by two extraordinary dance shows at Waterside this spring.   Happy Father’s Day,   which comes to Waterside on  Friday 10 May,  is a reflective coming-of-age piece with a comedic edge created by  Dani Harris-Walters .  A heart-stirring journey that focuses on a vital relationship from an experienced point of view.    With the use of Hip Hop Dance, this engaging solo work navigates through a realm of anecdotal sketches with a fusion of movement, rap, animation and text.  This relatable and uniquely crafted work is the unconventional puberty lesson you wish you had during school.   Dani Harris-Walters says:  “ Happy Father’s Day isn’t just your typical ‘5, 6, 7, 8’ dance show… it’s a theatrical story that will have you in stitches, feel enlightened and grateful for being the wonderful person you are”.   Happy Father’s Day h...

In 1974 I was myself in the very early years of my professional life and as I look through the wonderful list of Clonter alumni I see so many artists who have accompanied me on my path and who have contributed so much both here and abroad. The value of the experience and guidance that Clonter can provide to young artists is difficult to overestimate, especially at a time when professional opportunities are contracting rather than expanding. And I know how much joy these artists can bring to local audiences and communities in the North West, where I have such strong roots. We must remember that the arts are not a luxury – they are fundamental to our society, an...
