  JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR    THE LOWRY, SALFORD 21-25 th  MAY 2024                                                 Review by Natalie Anglesey The first time I saw Jesus Christ Superstar was in the seventies when it opened in London. I’d been living and working abroad and, much as I’d loved it, I was looking forward to returning home and enjoying some West End Theatre. We paid a great deal of money to see this new, acclaimed production and it  was worth every penny! By the time the show closed in London after eight years, it had become the longest –running musical in West End history. Bernard Hill

 Sad to hear of the death of Manchester actor  Bernard Hill who died today at the age of 79. Like so many actors he began his career in amateur theatre and his many roles included The Boys from the Blackstuff and most notably the Captain of the Titanic . RIP.

  42 Balloons at The Lowry 18 APRIL –19 MAY 2024 Review by Natalie Anglesey at the Quays Theatre There’s nothing more exciting than a brand new musical which premiered, not in London nor in Manchester, but at the Quays Theatre at the Lowry in Salford. No need to combat Manchester city centre traffic or fight for a parking space. There's plenty of parking spaces and eateries in Salford Quays. But the question remains is this new work worth the price of a ticket? As far as I'm concerned and the rest of the audience,  it's a definite yes. 42 Balloons is the brainchild of Jack Godfrey who has not only written the story, but the music and lyrics as well.  Godfrey's previous works include This is A Love Story (Dundee Rep) and Babies (Lyric).
